Ecocene: Cappadocia Journal of Environmental Humanities is committed to protecting the privacy and personal data of its authors, reviewers, editors, and other users. The Journal collects and processes personal data provided by authors, reviewers, editors, and other users in connection with manuscript submission, peer review, editorial communication, publication, and post-publication processes. Such data may include names, institutional affiliations, email addresses, ORCID identifiers where provided, correspondence, manuscript-related information, reviewer reports, and other information necessary for the proper administration and integrity of the Journal's editorial and publishing processes.

Personal data are used for purposes related to manuscript submission and processing, peer review, editorial decision-making, communication with authors and reviewers, publication and dissemination of scholarly work, maintenance of publication records, research integrity, prevention and investigation of misconduct, and the administration of the Journal's editorial processes. Personal data are not used for unrelated commercial purposes.

Where necessary for the operation of the Journal, relevant personal data may be shared with Cappadocia University Press, editorial staff, peer reviewers, publishing and hosting service providers, and other service providers supporting the Journal's editorial and publishing activities. Where applicable, limited information may also be shared with indexing and abstracting services, scholarly databases, persistent identifier services, and digital platforms that support the publication and dissemination of scholarly work. Such sharing is limited to information necessary for the relevant purpose.

The Journal takes reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect personal data against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, loss, or misuse. Access to personal data is limited to individuals and service providers who require such information for legitimate editorial, publishing, administrative, technical, legal, or research-integrity purposes.

Personal data are retained for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which they are processed, including editorial, publication, archival, legal, and research-integrity purposes. Information forming part of the permanent scholarly record, such as published author names, institutional affiliations, and publication records, may be retained as part of the Journal's archival and scholarly communication practices.

The Journal may use cookies and similar technical mechanisms on its website where necessary for website functionality, security, analytics, or the improvement of user experience. Where applicable, information collected through such technologies is handled in accordance with the Journal's privacy practices and applicable data protection requirements.

The Journal handles personal data in accordance with applicable data protection and privacy laws and seeks to respect the rights of individuals concerning their personal data. Requests or questions concerning the collection, use, or processing of personal data may be directed to the Journal through its official contact channels.

Author Declaration and Publication Ethics

Ecocene: Cappadocia Journal of Environmental Humanities requires authors to ensure that manuscripts submitted for publication meet the Journal’s standards of originality, authorship, publication ethics, and legal compliance.

By submitting a manuscript to the Journal, authors are expected to confirm that:

  • the manuscript is an original work and has not been previously published in substantially the same form;
  • the manuscript is not simultaneously under consideration for publication elsewhere;
  • all individuals who have made substantial contributions that qualify for authorship have been appropriately identified as authors;
  • the submitting author has the consent and authorization of all co-authors to submit the manuscript and to act as the corresponding author, where applicable;
  • the necessary permissions have been obtained for any copyrighted third-party material included in the manuscript, unless the material is used under an applicable copyright exception, limitation, or other lawful basis;
  • third-party material that is not covered by the copyright or license applicable to the Article is clearly identified and appropriately credited; and
  • to the best of the authors’ knowledge, the manuscript does not infringe the copyright, intellectual property, privacy, or other legal rights of any third party.

Authors should also disclose any previous version of the manuscript that has been presented at a conference but has not been published in conference proceedings. Where applicable, the name and relevant details of the conference should be provided in the manuscript.

Any previously published material incorporated into a submitted manuscript must be appropriately acknowledged and cited. Authors are responsible for ensuring that they have the necessary rights or permissions to reuse such material.

The Journal may request additional information or documentation concerning the originality, authorship, permissions, or publication history of a submitted manuscript where necessary to assess compliance with its editorial and ethical policies.

Copyright and Licensing Statement

Copyright Ownership

Copyright in articles published in Ecocene: Cappadocia Journal of Environmental Humanities remains with the author(s).

Ecocene and Cappadocia University Press do not require authors to transfer or assign copyright ownership to the Journal or the Publisher.

Authors retain the rights to reuse, reproduce, distribute, archive, communicate, and otherwise use their work, subject to applicable third-party rights and the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

Creative Commons License

Unless otherwise indicated, all articles published in Ecocene are made available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

CC BY 4.0 permits anyone to share, copy, redistribute, adapt, remix, transform, and build upon the work for any purpose, including commercial purposes, provided that the terms of the license are followed.

The Journal and the Publisher have the non-exclusive right to publish, reproduce, distribute, communicate, archive, preserve, index, and otherwise disseminate articles published in Ecocene in print, electronic, digital, and other formats.

This publication right does not prevent authors or other users from exercising the rights granted under CC BY 4.0.

Attribution

Users who reuse an article published in Ecocene must provide appropriate attribution in accordance with CC BY 4.0.

Where reasonably practicable, attribution should identify:

  • the author(s);
  • the title of the article;
  • Ecocene: Cappadocia Journal of Environmental Humanities as the original publication venue;
  • the relevant publication details and DOI or other persistent identifier, where available;
  • a link to the CC BY 4.0 license; and
  • an indication of whether changes were made.

Attribution should not suggest that the author(s), Ecocene, or Cappadocia University Press endorses or supports the subsequent use unless such endorsement has been expressly given.

Author Rights and Reuse

Because copyright remains with the author(s), authors may reuse and share their published work, including by:

  • depositing the article in institutional or subject repositories;
  • using the article for teaching, research, and other scholarly purposes;
  • including the article in a thesis, dissertation, book, or other scholarly work;

Any subsequent publication or reuse should appropriately acknowledge the original publication in Ecocene.

Authors may also enter into other contractual or licensing arrangements concerning their work, provided that such arrangements do not restrict or invalidate rights that have already been granted to the public under CC BY 4.0.

Third-Party Material

The CC BY 4.0 license applies only to material for which the author(s) and/or the Journal have the necessary rights to grant or apply that license.

Third-party material, including photographs, figures, tables, illustrations, data, quotations, or other copyrighted content, is not automatically covered by CC BY 4.0 merely because it appears in an article published in Ecocene.

Where third-party material is subject to different rights or licensing conditions, this should be indicated by an appropriate credit or rights statement.

Users are responsible for determining whether additional permission is required before reusing third-party material.

Publication, Preservation, and Archiving

The Journal and Cappadocia University Press may make published articles publicly available through the Journal's website, institutional repositories, scholarly databases, indexing services, digital archives, and other preservation systems.

The Journal may also make article metadata publicly available, including titles, author names, affiliations, abstracts, keywords, publication dates, DOIs, citation information, and licensing information.

The Journal aims to ensure the long-term preservation and accessibility of its published content through appropriate digital archiving and repository practices.

Corrections, Retractions, and Updates

Ecocene may correct, update, withdraw, or retract published content when necessary in accordance with the Journal's editorial policies and publication ethics standards.

Corrections and retractions are handled in accordance with recognized scholarly publishing and research integrity principles.

Where an article has been published under CC BY 4.0, rights already granted to the public under that license remain subject to the terms of CC BY 4.0.

Editorial and Production Changes

The Journal may make reasonable editorial, typographical, formatting, accessibility, and production changes to articles for publication and dissemination purposes.

Such changes are intended to improve the presentation, accessibility, and technical quality of published content and do not alter the substantive scholarly content of an article without appropriate editorial procedures.

Open Access

Ecocene follows an open-access publishing model. Published articles are made freely available online without subscription or paywall barriers.

Readers may access, read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, link to, and otherwise reuse articles in accordance with the terms of the applicable Creative Commons license.

The Journal's open-access policy is consistent with the principles of the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI).
